One of life's simplest pleasures is a blissful seven-something-hours of slumber, but between the news cycle, the state of our indoor air, mounting stress levels, the particularities of an aging body, and [gestures wildly] everything else, you may not be getting the most restful sleep of your life. Thankfully, over the last couple years of mostly being cooped up at home, we've had ample opportunity to shuffle around our living arrangements, find what soothes us, and zero in on the stuff that makes winding down for the night that much easier.

We've whiled away the hours conked out on a number of new top-of-the-line mattresses, tested all the cozy fixings that cover and wrap around your bed, padded around in some of the swerviest of sleep garments, and tinkered with all the latest tech enhancements that accent our nightstands and get us out of bed in the morning.

Now, for our first-ever GQ Sleep Awards, we're assembling the results of our lounging here, a small village of sleep essentials that'll help you hit the REM cycle expediently. There's so much great new sleep gear rolling out these days that we thought it deserved its own spotlight beyond our yearly Home Awards. (Eagle-eyed readers might notice that some previous winners we've crowned there have cropped back up on this list, too.) Because you deserve the best in R&R—whether that's a gentler alarm clock, a deliciously soft set of sheets to tuck you in at night, or a truly lavish pair of slippers. Spending a few thousand dollars on a mattress might seem needlessly splurgy, but you can't put a price on luxurious rest.

The Best Mattresses

The Best Mattress For Most People: Helix Midnight Luxe

Helix Midnight Luxe

There should be no such thing as a “universal mattress,” but stay with us when we tell you that Helix’s Midnight Luxe is the shapeshifter of a mattress that's juuuuust right for pretty much everyone. Back sleeper, stomach sleeper, big and tall, small and petite? It's all the same to the brand that cooked up our staff’s favorite hybrid mattress of several years running–a perfectly calibrated fusion of innersprings and cushy memory foam that offers a crowdpleasing combo of give, bounce, and overall support. If you want the best of all worlds, start here.

The Best Mattress for Back and Side Sleepers: Casper Wave Mattress

Casper Wave

Casper, the OG of the online mattress game, has come a long way since its first bed-in-a-box. Enter the Casper Wave–an ultra luxe hybrid that had our tester “sleeping like a king.” Instead of dropping you into 100% memory foam, the Wave fine tunes the combination with four other layers of elite sleep tech to align your body to ergonomic, pressure-relieving perfection. Is it a bit of a splurge? Certainly, but if this story is any indication, we’d argue good sleep is priceless.

The Best Eco-Friendly Mattress: Birch Luxe Natural Mattress

Birch Luxe natural mattress

If you’re buying your avocados organic from the grocery store then the Birch Luxe is the mattress for you. From GOTS to Greenguard to Fair Trade, Birch (a branch of power player Helix) has all the top eco-certifications to prove that they use the good stuff, cut the not great stuff, and make it happen in an ethical way. Our tester swooned for the organic cashmere and wool layers that top off this sustainable sleeper, deeming it “the menswear head’s mattress.”

The Best Budget Mattress: Allswell Hybrid Mattress

Allswell hybrid mattress

Listen, while we are pro investing in your sleep, we get that you can’t always drop a bag on a new mattress. So if your budget's a little more constrained, you can step away from the million-and-one Amazon listings and go straight to Allswell. Our testers were blown away by how affordable this hybrid was given how comfy it felt. Plus, with a 100-night trial to put it to the test, your regrets will be few and your returns will be huge.

The Best Firm Mattress: Brooklyn Bedding Plank Mattress

Brooklyn Bedding Plank mattress

There’s a reason Brooklyn Bedding named this mattress the Plank–it’s designed to be firm, flat, and flippable like a pancake. One side has a 1.5” top layer for a “traditional firm” feel, while the other side offers a .75” top layer for the ultra firm-leaning fiends out there who crave a sleep experience akin to sprawling out on the cold hard floor. If you’re a back sleeper looking for something to get your spine right, the American Chiropractic Association endorsed the Plank so you don’t have to take our word for it (plus, you have 120 nights to figure out if you’re cut out for the firm-life).

The Best Pet Bed: Italic Mei Fold-Out Pet Bed

Italic Mei fold-out pet bed

Pets deserve the best in bedding, too, and if you sense that your pooch or feline is craving wide open spaces, look no further than Italic's fold out pet bed. Into a loveseat formation? Feeling a chaise moment? This lounger does it all splendidly, thanks to durable, foldable cushions. It’s also lightweight and portable if your stage-five clinger needs his throne to be at your side 24/7. Most importantly, should the line “room to make their big mistakes” become imminently relevant, this bed also comes with a removable cover that you can pop into the washing machine.

The Best Sheets

The Best Linen Sheets: Cultiver Linen Sheet Set

Cultiver linen sheet set

Lusciously soft (thank you, pre-washing!), airy, and available in a rich smattering of colors, this European flax sheet set could easily hit heirloom status. Cultiver is known for its high-quality linen sheets, so while prices run higher than average you can, ahem, rest easy knowing you're sleeping on some top-tier bedding. Another thing we dig? You can build your own bedding set, mixing and matching hues to your heart's desire. Get to it, Bob Ross.

The Best Percale Sheets: Snowe Percale Sheets

Snowe percale sheet set

High-lifers, these are the crispest of crisp sheets if you want to bag that all-inclusive resort quality for your humble home. Snowe's top-tier threads will certainly cost you, but they'll also consistently capture the feel of a perfectly broken-in button-up after a few washes. Just imagine how nice it'll feel to curl up like a penthouse prince after a long day.

The Best Sateen Sheets: Cuddledown Sateen Sheet Set

Cuddledown sateen sheet set

Cuddledown: Fun to say five times fast and even more fun to sleep on. You reach for sateen when you want the silky, slick feel of a satin shirt, and this brand offers that in spades (and in a whole suite of colors, too). Other tricks up its sleeve are a deep pocket fitted sheet option so your grande pillowtop mattress gets full coverage, plus the opportunity to feel like a cozy little panini sandwiched between these sheets.

The Best Flannel Sheets: L.L. Bean Flannel Sheet Set

L.L. Bean flannel sheet set

Soft, warm, and durable, these forever classic sheets from the Bean check all of our cozy little boxes. The brand has been around since 1912 and its heritage designs come in the most Americana patterns known to man. You’ll be excited to pull these out of the closet winter after winter (and because they really do last long, they'll feel just as snuggly as you remember).

The Best Cooling Sheets: Sijo Eucalyptus Sheet Set

Sijo eucalyptus sheet set

Sleeping can be a sweaty business but these cooling sheets will certainly add some balance to your nighttime routine. They’ve nailed the magical combination of being silky enough to slip into that you actually relish laying in bed (DJ, hit that snooze button one more time) and breathable enough that you don't wake up at 3 a.m. drenched in a cold sweat. Plus, there are six elevated colors to choose from that'll assure any visitors of your excellent taste.

The Best Patterned Sheets: Brooklinen Percale Sheets

Brooklinen classic core sheet set

One thing DTC bedding darling Brooklinen never fails to produce is a fresh crop of sick patterns and colorways year after year. Limited-edition swirls, tie-dye designs, and the staple window-pane stripes that make up its core collection certainly serve up a wealth of options for decking out your bed. Beyond pure aesthetics, the crisp and cool feel of the fabrics themselves will give you a whole new appreciation for napping.

The Best Bedding

The Best Down Comforter: Riley White Goose Down Comforter

Riley white goose down comforter

Riley’s overstuffed white goose down comforter is an absolute beast of a blanket. Packed with 750 fill power in its extra-warm density, the supremely toasty comforter is like a warm hug cocooning you all night long. Toss the sucker in the washer and dryer in between seasons to keep it at its fluffiest and cleanest for when the mercury drops again next winter.

The Best Down-Alternative Comforter: Coop All-Seasons Comforter

Coop all-seasons comforter

Coop's all-season comforter is here to save your relationship. Its ingenious layered design evenly divides up both sides of the bed, and allows sleepers to add and subtract cotton sateen padding on either side of the bed until they've achieved the ideal coziness. Finally, a blanket that the cold-blooded and perpetual overheaters among us can agree on, and one that can be used to pare back or pile on warmth any time of the year.

The Best Throw: Coyuchi Sequoia Organic Cotton and Wool Throw

Coyuchi Sequoia organic cotton and wool throw

Coyuchi's Sequoia throw blanket is the Platonic ideal of what a throw blanket should be: enough of a looker to accent your drab sofa, while just thick enough to keep you toasty when you're huddled by your drafty window. Combining primo organic wool and cotton, it's warm, soft, and handsome enough to edge out any competition in the linen closet (plus the perfect thing to gift someone you're aiming to impress).

The Best Mattress Topper: The Company Store Down-Alt Mattress Topper

The Company Store down-alt mattress topper

Quality mattress toppers have a way of making even the jankiest innersprings feel like a Ritz Carlton king bed, and if you dig the idea of bewitching your bed into a literal cloud, The Company Store's extra pillowy puffer has your name written on it. The polyester fill and cotton twill cover are a dream for the allergy-prone, and the no-slip grip it maintains on the top of your mattress really makes it a keeper.

The Best Weighted Blanket: Helix Weighted Blanket

Helix weighted blanket

The brand behind our favorite mattress serves up an equally excellent weighted blanket. It's filled with glass beads which evenly envelop your body in a soothing embrace. But we’re especially taken with the machine-washable outer cover because its textures—fleece on one side, microfiber on the other—let you choose your own adventure.

The Best Quilt: Schoolhouse Quilt

Schoolhouse quilt

The best new quilts look like hand-me-downs, minus the dust and wear, and Schoolhouse's Stillwater Floral Quilt is a strong contender for a modern heirloom. Between the hypnotizing floral pattern and the lived-in jacquard texture, it's just the thing to make your bed feel welcoming and ready for its next closeup. (You may even be tempted to wear it around the house like a cozy cape, A$AP Rocky-style.)

The Best Duvet Cover: Brooklinen Duvet Cover

Brooklinen duvet cover

A duvet cover can't make your scratchy comforter any more breathable or warm, but it can certainly spruce up an unsightly bed setup. Brooklinen’s duvet covers are some of the best of the bunch, falling in that sweet spot of gender-neutral, pleasing, and not-too-OTT. Its designs are for anyone who wants to trick out their innerspring with a little panache. Oh, and it's also made from the same smooth fabric as Brooklinen's raved-about percale sheets (which of course made this list, too).

The Best Sleepwear

The Best Cotton Pajamas: Tekla Poplin Pajama Set

Tekla poplin pajama set

What do taste gods like Justin Saunders and red-hot fashion labels like Stüssy have in common? A sold-out collaboration with Tekla, the Danish textile brand that hawks pajama sets so fly they’d make Julian Schnabel blush. In a little over five years, the upstart PJ experts have become a surprise fashion crowd favorite, thanks to jammies exactly like these: cut from crisp organic cotton, kitted out with mother of pearl buttons, and done up in a murderer’s row of eye-grabbing stripes. Your sweatpants never stood a chance.

The Best Flannel Pajamas: L.L. Bean Scotch Plaid Flannel Pajamas

L.L.Bean Scotch plaid flannel pajamas

It’s tough to beat the classics. And it doesn’t get more classic than L.L. Bean’s blanket-soft pajamas, a mainstay of the brand’s selection for about as long as the Bean’s been around. They’re made out of double-brushed Portuguese flannel, they come in a bevy of handsome plaids, and they’ll help you feel like the type of fella who “winters” in Aspen—all for less than a Benjamin.

The Best Cashmere Pajamas: Emma Willis Cashmerello Pajama Set

Emma Willis cashmerello pajama set

When you need a perfect bespoke suit you go to Savile Row. When you need a perfect bespoke shirt, you go to Jermyn Street, home to elite tailors like Emma Willis, the eminent British shirtmaker. Willis’ cashmerello pajamas, cut and sewn by hand in the brand’s Gloucester workroom, look plenty spiffy, but it’s the fabric—a ludicrously soft blend of cashmere and Swiss cotton—that really helps you nod off like an OBE.

The Best Sleep T-Shirt: Allbirds Sea Tee

Allbirds sea tee

What separates a T-shirt you can sleep in from one you can wear to do anything else? If you’re Allbirds, it comes down to silky-smooth feel: a byproduct of the brand’s blend of sweat-wicking tencel, temperature-regulating merino wool, and odor-reducing chisotan. Your pals might scoff (Allbirds?!), but only until the Sea tee converts them, too.

The Best Sleep Slippers: Lenys World Velvet Slippers and Camper “Wabi” Wool Blend Slippers

Lenys World velvet slippers

Camper "Wabi" wool blend slippers

There are two types of slippers: the cozy fleece-lined slippers you wear because your floors are freezing, and the ritzy velvet slippers you wear because your Lobbs are at the cobbler. Guess which camp Lenys’ Italian-made, Vibram-soled, calf leather-lined version falls into?

If coziness is your primary concern, Camper’s Wabi slippers—made from a scuzzy wool blend and finished with grippy EVA footbeds—might be more your speed. The Spanish brand sells ‘em in a Crayola’s box worth of colors, but the grooviest option is all sludgy psychedelics: a remixed animal print that looks like a cow spent a couple of weeks grazing at an artist residency upstate.

The Best Nightgown: P. Le Moult Piped Nightshirt

P. Le Moult piped nightshirt

Central Saint Martins alum Praline Le Moult makes nightgowns for the modern-day bon vivant, each inspired by her great-great-grandfather, a dandy entomologist with the wardrobe to match. To harness a jolt of his globe-trotting energy, just slip on one of the caftan-like longshirts designed in his honor; made from sustainably-grown organic cotton, they’re the raddest way we've found to add little opulence to your nighttime routine—more Papa in his Mediterranean pied-à-terre than Celestial Seasonings Sleepytime bear.

The Best Boxers: Derek Rose Silk-Satin Boxers and Jambys Boxers

Derek Rose silk-satin boxers

Jambys boxers

For close to a century, Derek Rose has outfitted style-minded fellas in decadent underpinnings like these satin-striped boxers, rendered in pure silk with a gently forgiving fit. Looking for undies with a little competitive edge? Try nodding off in a pair from newcomer Jambys, whose oh-so-soft modal-spandex boxers come with the added benefit of two nifty pockets by the waist. Both will look sick with a rumpled OCBD and scrunched camp socks—and both will make you seriously reconsider those poly-blend joints you used to order by the six-pack.

The Best Robes: Parachute Classic Turkish Cotton Robe and Sulka Satin-Trimmed Robe

Parachute classic Turkish cotton robe

Sulka satin-trimmed silk-twill robe

You know that warm and fuzzy feeling you get nestled in front of a crackling fireplace nursing a cup of cocoa? Turns out, you don’t need the fireplace or the cocoa: all you need is Parachute’s soft-but-dense Turkish cotton robe, a triumph of cozy-boy living with two ample front pockets and a beefy shawl collar. Jetting off to spend a weekend in Davos or at chez Drake in Toronto? Look to Sulka, the vaunted French haberdasher that counts royalty of the European (the Duke of Windsor) and Hollywood variety (Clark Gable) among its clientele. The heritage label crafts its printed robe from the same silk used to make its ties, which means you’re guaranteed to feel like the 6 God—or just a regular old style god—every time you shimmy into it.

The Best Sleep Masks: Silk Sleep Mask and Nodpod Weighted Mask

Slip sleep mask

Nodpod weighted mask

Some sleepers can't turn in for the night unless they've achieved absolute cryptlike darkness in their bedroom. But before you think about switching up your drapery, consider the simpler alternative: a good old-fashioned sleep mask to block out the street lights and sunshine streaming into your windows. Slip is the only name worth knowing in the silk mask realm—it's been in the game since the early aughts, and its luxe designs come in a dizzying array of colors and prints that all telegraph the same message: “Do not disturb.”

If you're into a less delicate mask, the fleece-y Nodpod is another heavyweight to know. Literally. It's not the most elegant thing to wear at a new partner's place, but the secret sauce here is that it's weighted for a little pressure relief on your eyes. There's a reason that the perennially sleep-deprived (like doctors and migraineurs) swear by it.

The Best Nightstand Setup

The Best Nightstand: TOOU Tomo Side Table

TOOU Tomo side table

Ditch the drab wood nightstand for something you’ll actually be excited to wake up next to. TOOU's Tomo side table is that rare combo of cool, compact, and completely functional. Throw your tech and tchotchkes on top, your reading materials in the middle cavern, and your slippers underneath, then hop into bed. Another design flex: The recycled plastic that makes up this elegant table slashes costs, so you'll have multiple reasons to feel good about your new impulse buy.

The Best Reading Lamp: Anglepoise Type 75 Mini Table Lamp

Anglepoise Type 75 mini table lamp

The sleek and sturdy Anglepoise Type 75 has been revered for decades as the design world’s desk lamp of choice. As the OG’s more compact but still powerful kin, the mini version wields a bright light for putting in those late-night hours or cramming in one more chapter before bed. Plus, Anglepoise’s unbeatable lifetime warranty guarantees you a nighttime buddy for keeps.

The Best Ambient Bedside Lamp: Yowie Gantri Lamp

Yowie Gantri lamp

Gantri's forward-thinking lamps have been setting the bar for what's new, hip, and sustainably-engineered (everything is 3D-printed and made-to-order) in lighting since it launched in 2017. This groovy mini table light—a collab with Philly-based concept store Yowie—earned a nod in last year’s Home Awards for its nostalgic petal base and mushroom topper. Beyond being a bona fide banger for your nightstand, its dimmable, soft-focus light will also set the mood whenever overnight guests pass through.

The Best Alarm Clocks: Philips Smart Sleep Wake-Up Light and Loftie Alarm Clock

Philips Smart Sleep wake-up light

Getting your body in touch with the natural circadian rhythms of sunrise and sunset is a proven way to get better sleep. And sure, it might seem like a contradiction to achieve that primal connection with a gadget that syncs with your phone. But there is genuinely something elemental about being woken up by the gentle glow that Philips' wake-up light provides—or, better yet, turning over, seeing the “sun” hasn’t started to rise, and immediately knowing that you can safely nod back off.

And if how you wake up in the morning sets the tone for your day, the cacophony of your phone alarm just ain't it for starting the day off on the right foot. Instead, opt for Loftie’s sleek alarm clock that’s as easy on the eyes as the ears. The Loftie offers relaxation-inducing sounds like white noise, guided breathwork, and sound baths to lull you into slumber, plus melodic tones to ease you back into wakefulness—no blaring or screeching here.

The Best Pillows

The Best Pillow for Combination Sleepers: Coop Home Eden Pillow

Coop Home Eden pillow

GQ staffers are rarely united on anything, but everyone who's tried Coop's gusseted Eden has come away smitten. The pillow, which comes pre-filled with heaps of shredded gel-infused memory foam, puts the loft levels in your hands. There's an additional baggie of the stuff so you can fuss with the amount of fill in there until it's firm or squishy enough to suit your chosen sleep style. The shredded texture molds around your head without completely caving in, making your head go “ahhhhh” in relief whenever it hits the surface.

The Best Pillow for Back Sleepers: Tempur Pedic Tempur-Neck Pillow

Tempur-Pedic Tempur-neck pillow

“Get you a pillow that can do both” is the guiding wisdom behind Tempur-Pedic's Tempur-Neck, whose ergonomic design features two curves—one taller, one shorter. Toggle between the two to get some air when you're congested or cradle your neck in the crook of its peaks. And though Tempur-Pedic's signature foam has a reputation for being springy and soft, this fellow's firm enough to provide sufficient support that you won’t just melt into the pillow.

The Best Wedge Pillow: The Company Store Wedge Pillow

The Company Store wedge pillow

Shape matters, no doubt, and a wedge pillow is the peak of comfort for restless sleepers that need the extra elevation. Feeling the burn of acid reflux? Seasonal allergies got you all stuffed-up? It's all about the incline, baby, and this perfectly floofy, sub-$50 gem is just the thing to clear you out and help you breathe deep while you snooze.

The Best Down Pillow: Brooklinen Mid-Plush Down Pillow

Brooklinen mid-plush down pillow

High on our list for combination sleepers is Brooklinen’s down pillow, whose balanced mid-plush form provides just enough loft for a satisfying side-sleep, yet still enough squish for starfishing on your stomach at night. If you're itching for a certain feathery touch, this one's your surest bet.

The Best Cooling Pillow: Nest Bedding Easy Breather Pillow

Nest Bedding easy breather pillow

Tencel, so hot right now! Popularity-wise, at least. Nest's Easy Breather pillow is our top pick for a cooling pillow since it's stuffed to the gills with shredded foam and ensconced in a layer of Tencel, a eucalyptus-based material that's both eco-friendly and wildly breathable on swampy nights. Its extra shredded foam allows you to get finicky with your loft levels and build it up to just the right height to accommodate your beefy shoulders.

The Best Bed Frames

The Best Platform Bed: Thuma The Bed

Thuma bed frame

The Thuma bed frame stays winning because it continues to deliver trendproof style, long-lasting materials, and breezy assembly, all at a relatively affordable price point. Built from solid repurposed wood with no MDF or veneers to be found (extremely rare these days), the frame is designed to slot together with zero tools thanks to satisfying Japanese-style joinery. Plus, you can either opt for the upholstered pillowboard, or upgrade to the solid wood headboard. It’s chutzpadik to name your product “The Bed,” but we’ve gotta say, this one really pulls it off.

The Best Storage Bed: EQ3 Storage Bed

EQ3 storage bed

The designers at EQ3 know the eternal truth that any home’s greatest luxury is storage–so they decided to build it straight into their “Marcel Lift Bed.” One part Donald Judd-chic minimalism, one part lowrider hydraulics, the Marcel looks like it could be in the MoMA while also ingeniously doubling your bedroom storage. We wish it were made of solid wood, but that sin is covered by the newfound ability to stash our linens, bulky sweaters, and foam roller-type-miscellany.

The Best Bed Foundation: Casper Foundation

Casper foundation

The unsung hero of any bedroom setup is the silent middleman, the bed foundation. Propping up your mattress and balancing over even the wobbliest of frames, you can't do much better (at any price point) than Casper's super solid foundation. The easily constructible and de-constructible joinery on each wooden piece fits together like a puzzle, sparing you the headache on your next move across state lines. The slats are all woven together in easily foldable pieces, too, so you never lose an errant part in the back of a U-haul.

The Best Metal Bed Frame: Olee Sleep Bed Frame

When you buy a metal bed frame you want a workhorse that’s clean and sturdy no matter how many apartments it travels to. We, and tens of thousands of Amazon shoppers before us, have decided that this is the one. The solid steel frame is easy to assemble, headboard-compatible, just the right height for adding a little extra storage to your teeny bedroom, and—most importantly—keeps things discreet during bouts of vigorous activity. What can we say? It’s the people’s bed frame.

The Best Sleep Tech

The Best Sleep Trackers: Withings Sleep and Whoop 4.0

Withings Sleep

Whoop 4.0

At this point, lots of companies make sleep trackers—your phone can even do a decent job. The real crux  is actually collecting good data, and collecting it every single night. So while Whoop’s app is informative and easy to use, the killer differentiating factor is that the strap has been designed from the bottom up for 24/7 wear. A nifty removable battery allows you to charge it without taking it off, and it’s unobtrusive and comfortable enough that you’ll never want to, even when you’re putting on your PJs.

Even harder to forget to use is this under-mattress mat from Withings. While it won’t track your workouts like the Whoop, it is the most fool-proof way to collect sleep stats. Simply slip it under your mattress—same place you kept the middle school Playboy stash—and you’ll forget it’s there until it’s time to marvel at those hours of sweet, sweet REM on the app on your phone.

The Best Sleep Supplement: Gnarly Magnesium Supplement

Magnesium is the most common nutritional supplement currently recommended for better sleep. This stuff is pretty undifferentiated and elemental—as in, it’s literally on the periodic table. But you want to get it from a source you trust. Since Gnarly has already won us over with good-tasting, easy-mixing protein powders and electrolyte beverages, it was a no-brainer to add these capsules to the top of our stack. If you're entering your supplement era, consider following our lead.

The Best White Noise Machine: LectroFan Evo White Noise Sound Machine

LectroFan Evo white noise sound machine

The white noise machine is the absolute king of sleep tech for drowning out your upstairs neighbors or the snoring galoot you have in bed lying next to you. The tiny footprint on LectroFan’s Evo gives it plenty of leeway to perch on most nightstands out there, and with a wide soundboard to choose from—including various colored noises (pink, white, it’s a whole thing) and nature samples—you'll be cueing up the perfect playlist to a peaceful slumber. It’s not the most beautiful nighttime companion, but it'll sure help you get your beauty rest.

The Best Ear Plugs: Happy Ears Ear Plugs and Quiet On 3.1 Noise-Cancelling Ear Plugs

Happy Ears ear plugs

Quiet On 3.1 noise-cancelling ear plugs

Happy Ears' tulip-shaped buds are barely noticeable in your ears, especially in their teeniest iteration (they come in multiple sizes), with the exception of their flashy innards. Compared to foamy ear plugs you buy by the jar and silicone joints that tend to wriggle loose from your ears, these have a rigidity and grip to them that block out noise better than most: In our testing, they proved invaluable for keeping the peace between snorers and their partners.

For especially loud noises, like the drone of a plane engine or the ongoing construction on your neighbor's house, you may need to call in some heavy-duty reinforcements. Quiet On's noise-cancelling ear plugs are all you need to dial down the uproar of a red-eye flight to a light hum as you wait for your melatonin to kick in. It's a hefty price to pay for sounder sleep, but just think of the benefits of staying well-rested ahead of that looming deadline, wedding weekend, or well-awaited vacation.

The Best Essential Oil Diffuser: Seasons Diffuser

Seasons diffuser

It's hardly a competition between Seasons' sculptural vessels and any other essential oil diffuser on the market. Nothing looks sleeker puffing away on your nightstand (and thankfully it won't compete for charging space there, since it's blessedly cordless). The well-paced water tank keeps that lavender or eucalyptus blend blasting for hours even on its highest setting, and the detachable handle allows you to tote it wherever its scentsual powers are most needed.

The Best Humidifier: Levoit LV600S Humidifier

Levoit LEVOIT LV600S humidifier

Levoit's humidifiers have been a favorite in the space for some time despite a wealth of competitors crowding in: The approachable price points are hard to beat, and each model offers a bevy of features that dial up the value. Its unassuming LV600S model (which is about twice the size of a toaster) is just powerful enough to mist up the cavernous rooms in your home. Connect it with Levoit's app to monitor your humidity levels and program a daily schedule, then watch—ahem, mist-ified—as it quietly dewifies your reptilian skin and revives your fussiest tropical plants.

The Best Air Purifier: Blueair Blue Pure 311 Air Purifier

Blueair Blue Pure 311 auto air purifier

For plug-and-play air purification, Blueair’s Blue Pure 311 offers the three things you want in an air purifier: performance, low operating costs, and design. The surprisingly quiet machine barely makes a peep as it cleans your air, and the fact that it looks so subdued in your living room is another huge plus—keeps them guessing about what the mystery object actually does.

The Best Space Heater: Honeywell ComfortTemp 4 Deluxe Ceramic Space Heater

Honeywell ComfortTemp 4 deluxe ceramic tower heater

Crank up your Honeywell ComfortTemp4 from “gentle warmth” to “heat blast” and you'll feel the full range of space-heating capabilities at your frosty fingertips. No matter how chilled your icebox of an apartment gets, this ceramic tower oscillates to help circulate warm air from wall to wall, with a budget-friendly price point and superior safety features to keep you warm (and out of harm's way) as it runs.

The Best Bed-Cooling Unit: Ooler Sleep System

Ooler sleep system

If the heating situation in your apartment feels somewhere closer to a furnace, chances are you won't be sleeping so much as schvitzing. ChiliSleep’s Ooler thermoregulated system is an upgrade on all accounts for your barely breathable mattress, like an A/C system for your bed so you can breeze on into your next REM cycle. There's cause for sticker shock here, but it's certainly a lot cheaper than footing the bill on a fancier mattress.

The Best Sleep and Meditation Apps: [Brthwrk] and Calm

Deep breathing is clinically proven to help you get to sleep. While you don’t need an app to fill and empty your lungs, we’ve found the guided exercises from Breathwrk can really help. The app cues breathing with subtle vibrations—meaning you can avoid the screen’s blue light, for the most part—and if our experience is any guide, once you’re synced up it won’t be long before you’re out cold.

And when you need serious soothing, let the Calm app bring the chill. The tranquil murmur of its lead meditation instructor Tamara Levitt is comforting enough to help you find peace on even your most chaotic commute. And the library here is vast (whether you're a free user or not), but we'd suggest ponying up on a subscription to tap into its best offerings: namely, a drawling bedtime story from Matthew McConaughey, a mental fitness training from LeBron James, or any of its wildly specific meditations that'll help you recenter no matter what you're working through.

The Best Travel Sleep Products

The Best Sleeping Bag: Patagonia Fitz Roy Down Sleeping Bag

Patagonia Fitz Roy Down Sleeping Bag

A sleeping bag is, materials-wise, almost identical to a down jacket—it’s just warming fill contained by a lightweight shell. So is it any surprise that the insulation masters at Patagonia make a particularly great bag?

The Best Travel Pillow: Ostrichpillow Go Neck Pillow

Ostrichpillow Go neck pillow

Chances are, you’ve seen someone donning an Ostrichpillow mid-flight. The brand has dominated the market for offbeat travelwear and the Go Neck Pillow is, believe it or not, the more approachable option for those who don't want to nod off looking like a Spongebob character (head fully cocooned in the brand's original napping pillow). High-end memory foam hugs your neck, while a Velcro band makes it easy to adjust your head angles without jostling your seatmate. Even better for those racing to their connecting flight: It all packs down into a tidy little travel bag.

The Best Travel Blanket: Enlightened Equipment Itasca Custom

Enlightened Equipment Itasca Custom

If you follow outdoor “sleep system” trends carefully, you'll have noticed two things: Some of the best gear out there is coming from small “garage” makers, and more and more campers are foregoing the full sleeping bag for a quilt. Minnesota's Enlightened Equipment has been at the forefront of both of these trends, and while the brand has grown rapidly, it still offers a crazy menu of handmade custom creations. Our pick? A high-tech, queen-sized quilt that stuffs way down until you’re ready to turn a truck bed into the Four Seasons.

The Best Travel Hammock: Eaglenest Outfitters TravelNest Hammock

Eagle Nest Outfitters TravelNest Hammock

Nothing cultivates chill quite like a hammock. This one can be quickly hung between two trees, and because it packs down to the size of a grapefruit, you can be ready for some serious relaxation at a moment’s notice.
